Job TitleDirector of Operations

Company NameIlha Blue, Mozambique

Peter Allsop came into tourism via the well-trodden path of trans-Africa driver, overland operator and Australian Backpacker adventure travel specialist. From here he side-stepped into education and training, providing capacity building to staff from some of Australia’s best known Indigenous tourism experiences. This lead to 15 years in Central Australia working for Indigenous controlled organisations and Government agencies supporting Indigenous tourism enterprises and focusing on product development as a means of creating new economic opportunities for Aboriginal Traditional Landowners.

In 2010 Peter came to Mozambique with his partner Gail Woods. Together they applied many of the tourism development lessons learned from Central Australia to this context. Peter’s business Ilha Blue serves as a model of community development that proudly focuses on capacity building at the local, grass roots level.

Peter has a degree in Development Studies/Anthropology. Is a qualified adult educator and has sat on the board of many tourism panels and steering committees.
